Word of What?!

In this digitally developed age can 'word of mouth' marketing still be so important? Surely not!? The internet has spoon-fed us marketing strategies for years with email marketing, review posting, promotional advertising, tactics that sneak marketing schemes into our daily lives. But the time has come and emails have progressed into social media networking such as Myspace, Facebook, Twitter; they all allow us to do the same thing - share. We voluntarily sign-up to these sites to share thoughts, opinions, photos, music, gossip, anything that suits us on that day. This availability and popularity of such social sites increases the value of word-of-mouth marketing on a global scope. The consumer is pulled to the marketing campaigns when they connect to the site to log-in just to see what is going on.

Although similar, email marketing and social media marketing are two different approaches. Emails can be used when you want to make sure it will be received and social media marketing is constant posting of general information. The ability to post fresh and up-to-date shared information will keep your restaurant at the consumer's fingertips.
